The best view comes after the hardest climb.

I am really fond of discovering new things and wandering for adventures. Hearing and seeing posts from my friends on social media about the thing ” sea of clouds ” on top of the mountain makes me feel curious on what really I can see up there. Because of my curiosity, I ended up saying ” okay, I will go for it”. So here, I’ve climbed the most challenging mountain where I cross up and down every single hill just to find that picture-perfect “sea of clouds”.
The Municipality of Danao is already known for its heart-stopping rides with Eat Danao or Extreme/Educational/Eco Adventure Tour. And now, there’s more… a tremendous view of clouds in Mt. Puntaas . A scenic natural phenomenon occurring in town of Danao, located three hours’ drive away from Tagbilaran City, has been popularized by social media and persuaded curious travelers to pay a visit to this off-the-beaten-track destination in the central highlands of the island province.
The “Sea of Clouds” was first made popular by a proud Danaoanon, Mr. Reil Cenabre, as he and his wife were trying to find a good spot to catch a superb view of the sunrise, and to their surprise, a “sea of clouds” captivated their eyes are they were trekking by the timberlands of Brgy. Concepcion in September 2016.
Upon watching the sight, his wife uttered the words “Wow! Sea of Clouds!” in awe.
And so today, it’s called Danao’s “Sea of Clouds.”
How to get there?

Going to Danao, we decided to ride a private/rented vehicle together with my cousins. We know that this is quite tricky because locals are probably still sleeping and we have no one to ask for directions but with the help of google map we are able to arrive at our destination. In case we lost internet connection we are guided by the signage in the viewing road.
You can also ride a public vehicle or commute a bus from Dao Terminal in Tagbilaran City to the town of Danao. Fare would be around 100 pesos . But most probably you won’t make it on time to see the clouds and sunset because public transport going to the town does not start very early.
Best time to witness the view?

We arrived at 4 am and started hiking for 20 minutes. We climbed three mountains after we reach the peak where the sea of clouds are visible. Each mountain has a small hut where you can take a short rest when you feel tired and when your legs started to tremble. According to Manang Belen, our kind local guide, we are lucky because we arrived at the top early enough before the sun rises and the clouds to show up.

Best time to witness the view is from 4:30-5:00 or 5:00-6:00 in the morning. It depends on who you are asking.

We got there 4:00 am and we don’t have a breakfast yet. You may be wondering why I’m holding an egg in this photo, for your information there’s no available foods and drinks you can buy there. It is best for you to bring your own foods because for sure you will be starving and feel thirst from your long hike.

This view reminds me of “Hagdan-Hagdang Palayan” in Banaue. The formation of soil is so beautiful. People there are so kind and make you feel welcome in their place. Their are also lot of plain rice in the area that makes the place more natural.

It is really worth the long trip. With or without a cloud definitely the place is so amazing. I moved from one corner to another just to take a photo in every corner of the place.
On my way back I told my myself, given a chance someday I will be back here in this place. How lucky are we Boholanos for God gave this wonderful nature.
